Two of the four lanes on the dock at our Southworth terminal will close for approximately three weeks beginning Monday, May 20. Crews are replacing the wooden decking of the walkway running along the south side of the pier. Plan for possible delays on our Fauntleroy/Vashon/Southworth route and oversized Vashon-bound vehicles that require the completion of a travel request form will not be able to travel out of Southworth. Customers are encouraged to arrive early and – for those who can – take alternate routes. The walkway decking is badly in need of repair, and we must do this work now so it’s complete ahead of the busy summer travel season.
Updates will be provided as conditions change when construction activities are underway.
WSF and our contractor for the Bainbridge Overhead Walkway Project are starting the final elements of work on the project, with completion expected this summer. Beginning today, for approximately a month, crews will be working at slip two to replace the apron which connects the overhead cab to the vessel. Throughout the day, slip one will be the operating slip for loading passengers, with overhead loading available.
Slip two will only be used for vessel tie-up at the end of the day. As there will be no overhead loading access at slip two, customers may occasionally be required to load via the car deck for some early morning and late evening sailings when slip one is not available. Please listen for announcements and follow crew’s instructions if it is necessary for passengers to load or unload via the car deck.
The #2 end elevator on the M/V Chimacum is temporarily out of service. The #1 end elevator is still available for customer use.
Technicians have been dispatched and updates will occur when more information is available.
