Nooksack River Bridge Special Repair - #9136

Description: WSDOT contractor crews from Razz Construction Inc. are repairing sections of the Nooksack River Bridge that was damaged in a bridge strike in fall 2016.

Deming Area Intersection Improvements - #9172

Description: WSDOT contractor crews from Coloacurcio Brothers will build a roundabout at the east junction of SR 9 and SR 542. This project will improve safety by reducing speeds of SR 542 travelers allowing SR 9 travelers safer turning movements.

Hedrick Creek Fish Passage - #9042

Description: WSDOT contractor crews are removing an old narrow culvert and replacing it with a new bridge on SR 542 near Glacier.

SR 548/Grandview Road and Kickerville Road - Intersection Improvements

Description: WSDOT contractor crews will build a roundabout at this intersection to improve safety and reduce the likelihood of serious crashes. This intersection is currently a 4-way-stop and will remain that way until the roundabout project begins.

Work schedule:

  • Monday, Feb. 19 to Thursday, Feb. 22 - Utility crews will close one lane of SR 548 near Kickerville Road daily between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. for utility pole relocation. This relocation work is to prepare the area for roundabout construction later this year. During the closures, flaggers will alternate traffic through the open lane.
  • WSDOT will open this project for contractor bids on February 28.
 
 
SR 9 Big Lake Area Fish Passage - #9167

SR 9 Clear Lake Area Intersection Improvements

SR 20 Sharpes Corner Area Intersection Improvements - #9177

Description: WSDOT contractor crews from Tapani, Inc. will build a roundabout at the intersection of SR 20 and Miller/Gibralter roads and SR 20 and SR 20 Spur (Sharpes Corner) to improve safety and efficiency of this area.

Work Schedule:

  • Puget Sound Energy and other utility companies have started relocating lines to prepare for roundabout construction.
  • Until further notice - Overnight drivers should plan ahead for some nightly traffic stoppages, of 15 minutes or less weeknights between midnight and 5 a.m. Crews will work to remove overhead lines and will stop all traffic during for brief periods for the safety of drivers and crews.
  • Early spring, exact date TBA - One lane of SR 20 will close near the intersection of SR 20 and Miller/Gibralter roads for roundabout construction. Flaggers will alternate traffic through an open lane around-the-clock for approximately one month. Travelers will have access to Miller/Gibralter during this work.

SR 20 Spur Paving and ADA Improvements - #9180

Description: WSDOT contractor crews from Lakeside Industries will improve pedestrian access at more than three dozen areas for people of all abilities and will pave two different sections of SR 20 Spur through Anacortes.

  • Monday, Feb. 19 through Friday, Feb. 23 - Crews will begin installing signs, traffic sensing cameras and doing some preliminary work in advance of ADA sidewalk improvements.
