An 84-foot-section of barrier was damaged by an avalanche during the annual 2013-2014 winter closure.

This section of barrier was damaged by an avalanche during the annual 2013-2014 winter closure.

In the winter of 2013 – 2014, heavy snow and avalanches damaged a section of barrier and wall on SR 410 just east of Chinook Pass. For the safety of the traveling public, WSDOT shifted traffic away from the damaged barrier and restricted traffic to one lane through a short section of SR 410.

In the fall of 2015, crews restored the wall and barrier. This project is complete and both lanes of SR 410 east of Chinook Pass are open seasonally.

*Due to high avalanche danger, Chinook Pass closes in November and reopens in May.
