Blocking Incidents
  • Heavy traffic is causing backups and possible delays on I-5 southbound from milepost 124.6 near Gravelly Lk Dr to milepost 120.44 near Joint Base Lewis Mcchord. Beginning at 4:17 pm on May 21, 2013 until further notice.
  • Heavy traffic is causing backups and possible delays on I-5 southbound from milepost 140.00 near Pierce / King Co. Line to milepost 136 near Port Of Tacoma Rd beginning at 2:50 pm on May 21, 2013 until further notice.
  • Heavy traffic is causing backups and possible delays on I-5 northbound from milepost 120.44 near Joint Base Lewis Mcchord to milepost 123.5 near Thorne Lane. Beginning at 4:50 pm on May 21, 2013 until further notice.
  • Heavy traffic is causing backups and possible delays on I-5 northbound from milepost 133 near Yakima Ave to milepost 135 near Tacoma beginning at 4:51 pm on May 21, 2013 until further notice.
  • Severe side winds on Tacoma Narrows Bridge on SR 16 at MP 8 both directions. Begining May 21st, 2013 02:00 PM, until further notice.
Construction Closures
  • The southbound I-5 exit to S. 38th Street in Tacoma (Exit #132A) is closed through July. Motorists are detoured via the S. 56th Street interchange at Exit #130, onto northbound I-5 and to the northbound I-5 exit to S. 38th Street. Expect delays, especially during a.m. and p.m. peak travel periods.
  • Eastbound Nalley Valley project-related work requires periodic lane and shoulder closures in both directions of SR 16, as well as on Sprague Avenue, South Tacoma Way and Center, and Union streets weekdays and weeknights.
  • Monday, May 20 to the morning of Thursday, May 23 - Crews will close up to three lanes of northbound I-5 at South 308th Street to South 260th Street from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly for construction work. The first lane will close at 8 p.m., the second at 9 p.m. and the third at 10 p.m. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. each day.
