US 2 Both Directions - The fire alert is at level 3 restricting work hours to 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. This may change; If so work hours will return to 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.: Monday through Friday (whatever hours), expect lane shifts and shoulder closures in the four lane section. Monday & Tuesday: Grinding pavement continues in preparation for paving. Wednesday, pavement repair begins. Friday, if repairs are complete, paving begins. Speed through the work zone is reduced to 45.

In this $4 million project, Central Washington Asphalt crews will replace the four lanes from the summit east for 7 miles. The roadway will be milled out and repaved with hot mix asphalt. The parking area for Bygone Byways will be fog-sealed. Safety features will be upgraded including rumble strips, striping and signage.
