For the most up-to-date information about SR 520 construction activities and planned road closures, check our SR 520 Construction Corner and its interactive construction map. You also can view Montlake Project construction photos taken daily, 'round the clock, by four mounted construction cameras.
WSDOT contractor crews completed a realignment of SR 520 lanes in the Montlake area over the Nov. 9-10 weekend, reducing from six to four the number of travel lanes between Montlake Boulevard and the SR 520 floating bridge. This three- to four-year lane reduction is necessary to remove the old eastbound lanes over Union Bay and construct a stronger replacement structure. The graphic below shows how traffic now moves through the Montlake area. Read our our latest blog to learn more about this important traffic shift.

Want to follow our construction progress from home? Now you can since we’ve started taking selfies, robotically, of our Montlake Project construction!
Online photos from fixed-mount cameras show the worksite from four different viewpoints. New pictures are shot and posted every 10 minutes ‘round the clock. You can browse through photos from previous days, weeks or even months to see crews' progress. Two of the cameras offer time-lapse footage, while another feature (found in a rectangular box in the lower-right corner of the screen) lets you isolate a section of the work site and track its construction progress over time, while the rest of the image remains fixed in the site's current condition.
We've opened a neighborhood drop-in office in Montlake to give the community another way to reach us regarding the SR 520 Montlake Project. Our project team is on hand to address your questions and comments about our work. Located at 2209 E. North St., the center's regular hours are Mondays and Wednesdays from noon to 6 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to noon, and the third Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to noon.
