Blocking Incidents
  • Collision on SR 512 westbound at milepost 8.74 near 104th St E/31st Ave SW beginning at 2:06 pm on September 23, 2021 until further notice. The right lane is blocked.
  • Beginning Oct. 5, 2020 through Sept. 2021: Travelers in both directions of SR 6, near Twin Oaks Road can expect traffic switched to a 2-lane 25 mph detour bypassing the closure.  Work includes excavation for bridge piers, bridge construction and culvert removal/installation.
  • Road work on US 101 both directions at milepost 163 near Big Cedar Rd beginning at 6:39 am on September 23, 2021 until about 5:30 pm.
  • Road work on US 101 both directions at milepost 290.04 near Leland Cutoff Rd beginning at 6:55 am on September 23, 2021 until about 6:00 pm.
  • Road work on SR 3 both directions from milepost 4 near Shelton North City Limits to milepost 5 beginning at 7:59 am on September 23, 2021 until about 3:30 pm.
  • Road work on US 101 both directions from milepost 334 near Potlatch Rd to milepost 339 near Purdy Cutoff Rd beginning at 8:14 am on September 23, 2021 until about 7:00 pm.

  • Road work on I-5 northbound from milepost 87 near 216th Ave SW to milepost 86 near Thurston/Lewis County Line beginning at 9:11 am on September 23, 2021 until about 3:00 pm.
Construction Closures
  • Crews are removing multiple barriers to fish under US 101 between Sequim and Port Angeles at Bagley and Siebert Creeks for improved fish passage which will require around-the-clock construction, shifted lanes and reduced speeds through fall of 2021. Any highway closures will be announced in advance.
  • Wednesday, June 23 – The southbound lanes of I-5 on the Stillaguamish River Bridge are closed long-term for construction. Traffic in both directions will share specially configured northbound lanes of I-5 during this closure between 236th Street Northeast and the SR 530 interchange.
  • Monday, July 12 – SR 164 between 176th Way Southeast and Southeast 413th Place will fully close for both directions of traffic for 90 days beginning at 8 a.m. Monday, July 12. Signed detours will be in place.
  • Friday, September 10, until the morning of Friday, September 24 - The I-5 Smokey Point Rest Areas (milepost 207) are closed for needed maintenance. Rest areas on I-5 at Silver Lake, south of Everett at milepost 188 and Bow Hill, north of Burlington at milepost 237 will remain open.
  • Starting Oct. 1 toll rates in the SR 99 tunnel will increase. The current weekday peak Good To Go! rate of $2.25 will increase to $2.60, and the weekday peak Pay By Mail rate of $4.25 will rise to $4.60. Drivers with a Good To Go! pass will continue to pay the lowest toll rate.
  • Work to help return Chico Creek under SR 3 to a more natural state is about to get underway. As soon as Monday, Sept. 27, crews working for WSDOT will install orange signs in and around the Chico Way interchange near Bremerton to notify users that construction is imminent. Travelers using both directions of the highway will see lanes shifted to the outside shoulders of SR 3 and night ramp closures.
  • Sunday, Sept. 19 to the morning of Friday, Sept. 24: The southbound Montlake Bridge will close to vehicle traffic from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly with a detour to I-5. The northbound side will be reduced to one open lane.
  • Monday, September 20, to the morning of Tuesday, September 28 –on northbound I-5 between MP 166.9 and 168.10 the two left lanes will be closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly.
  • From 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 27-28, travelers can expect one-way alternating traffic on SR 105 for a safety enhancement project. Travelers are encouraged to plan additional time to help prevent delays.
  • The City of Port Angeles is adding bike lanes, improved pedestrian crossings and transit stops along S Lincoln St/US 101 in downtown Port Angeles. Expect weekday daytime construction through late fall 2021. Questions about this project should be sent to publicworks@cityofpa.us.
  • Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 7 through Thursday, Sept. 23, one lane of northbound SR 167 will close each night from 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. the following day for construction from Algona to Auburn. Crews will only close the lane Monday through Thursday nights during the state fair. Evening and overnight travelers may experience some delays.
  • Crews have begun a new slope stabilization project along US 101 near Cosmopolis. Expect alternating traffic with a temporary signal through summer 2022. Any highway closures will be announced in advance. Most slope work will take place away from the road.

Since the slide was discovered, the roadway has dropped more than five feet. Most work will take place away from the highway, near the embankment.
  • Through Sept. 30, expect alternating traffic with flaggers and a pilot car along SR 19 and several sections of US 101 between Forks and Quilcene. Crews are nearly complete with a summer-long chip seal project, and are installing raised pavement markings and guideposts to wrap up the work.
  • Monday, September 20, to the morning of Monday, September 27 –The Right shoulder on the express lanes between mile post 167 and 168.8 will be closed 24 hours each day.
  • Weather permitting, crews will conduct deck repairs along the eastbound bridge at Wildcat Creek. Expect a continuous single lane closure Monday through Friday, Sept. 20-24. There may be times a lane needs to remain closed and no work is taking place. Each time sealant is applied to the driving surface it requires a 24 hour curing period.
  • From 10 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23 to 4 a.m. Friday, Sept. 24 the westbound SR 512 on-ramp to southbound I-5 will close for asphalt repair. Drivers will need to use an alternate route.
  • Sunday, September 19, to the morning of Friday, September 24 – Traffic will alternate for both directions of SR 9 between Granite Falls Highway (SR 92) and 84th Street Northeast from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly.
  • Monday, September 20, to the morning of Friday, September 24 – on eastbound I-520 the on ramp from SR 513 will be closed from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
  • Monday, September 20, to the morning of Friday, September 24 – on westbound SR 520 the off ramp to SR 513 will be closed from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
  • Monday, September 20, to the evening of Friday, September 24 – A single lane of southbound SR 203 between East Rutherford Street and East Eugene Street will close from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily.
  • Monday, September 20, to the evening of Friday, September 24 - A single lane on northbound SR 203 between East Eugene Street and East Rutherford Street will close from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily.
  • Friday, September 24 – The left lane on westbound SR 522 at 35th Avenue Northeast (milepost 4.50) will close from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Monday, September 20, to the evening of Friday, September 24 – A single lane for both directions on SR 410 between 284th Avenue Southeast and the Twin Creek Bridge will close from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Fridays.
  • Monday, September 20, to Friday, September 24 – One right lane on westbound I-90 between mileposts 11.55 and 15.5 will be closed from 10 a.m. to 5 a.m.
  • From 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, Sept 21-23, expect a westbound single lane closure for pavement repairs. Remember to slow down in work zones and watch for road crews.

  • Monday, September 20, to the morning of Friday, September 24 – The 46th Avenue West HOV direct access ramps to both directions of I-5 will close from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly.
  • Monday, September 20, to the morning of Friday, September 24 – northbound I-405 the northbound SR 167 to northbound I-405 HOV ramp will be closed from 10:30 p.m. to 4:15 a.m. nightly.
  • Portland Avenue/27th Street on-ramp to southbound I-5 will close from 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23 to 5 a.m. Friday, Sept. 24 for construction.
  • Southbound I-5 exit 134 to I-705 and SR 7 will close from 3 a.m. to 5 a.m. Friday, Sept. 24 for a traffic shift.
  • Southbound State Route 167 on-ramp to southbound I-5 will close from 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23 to 5:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 24 for construction.
  • Southbound I-5 from Port of Tacoma Road to East McKinley Way will have two lanes closed starting at 10 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23 until 6 a.m. Friday, Sept. 24. Rolling slowdowns on southbound I-5 may occur in the same area during the early morning hours of Friday, Sept. 24. Both the closures and rolling slowdowns are needed to put a new traffic shift into place.
  • Wednesday, September 22, to the morning of Friday, September 24 – on westbound I-90 the off ramp to 161st Ave SE will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly.
  • Wednesday, September 22, to the morning of Friday, September 24 – southbound I-405 the HOV lane and two left lanes between Southport Drive and Talbot Street will be closed from 10:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly.
  • Thursday, September 23 – A single lane for both directions of SR 203 between Tulaco Road and the Monroe South City Limits (milepost 23.35-22.40) will close from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • From 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, Sept. 20-24, expect alternating traffic with flaggers for installation of guide posts, pavement markings and road signage. Chip seal and road preservation work is complete. All work is expected to wrap up early October.
Special Events
  • Flammable cargo is prohibited on SR 520 eastbound & westbound from Montlake Blvd (MP 1) to 84th Ave NE (MP 5).
  • Travelers using SR 512 near the state fairgrounds in Puyallup may see occasional delays during daytime and evening hours Friday, Sept. 3 through Sunday, Sept. 26.
  • US 101 near Quilcene will be closed on Saturday, Oct. 2 from 11 a.m. to noon for a community parade. A signed detour will be in place. Law enforcement officers will be on scene to direct traffic while the parade is underway.
