US 97 Both Directions - US 97 south of Blewett Pass at Swauk campground (MP 159), on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. expect delays as a WSDOT escort vehicle will be at the work site to usher platoons of Courage Classic bicyclists through the bypass lane. The bypass lane is too narrow for bikes to ride with traffic. Messaging will be in place warning travelers of rolling slow downs.

US 97 Boundary Bridge #9323
County: Kittitas Highway: US 97 Region: North Central
Location: MP 159-160 (near Swauk Campground)
Description: In this $4.5M project, WHH Nisqually Construction Services will construct a concrete bridge to replace an old culvert that created a fish passage barrier. Work will include a detour widening to shift traffic while the bridge is constructed half at a time. Two-way traffic will be maintained outside working hours throughout the life of the project, except some instances of work that may require overnight flagging. No full closures of US 97 are planned for this project. Work started April 15, 2019.
Work schedule: Monday through Friday between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m., there will be intermittent flagger controlled traffic with delays up to 20 minutes near Swauk Creek campground as the contractor works on a drilled shaft in the roadway. Traffic in both directions has been shifted to detour lanes requiring a 12 ft. width restriction and a reduced speed of 50 mph through the work zone. These restrictions will remain in place during non-working hours through the duration of the project. Bypass lanes have narrow shoulders. The detour is expected to remain in place into October.
