US 97A Both Directions - US 97A is closed in both directions from milepost 223 to milepost 230 at the Knapps Hill Tunnel south of Chelan for emergency slope stabilization work. Motorists traveling between Wenatchee and Chelan should use US 97 on the east side of the Columbia River. There is a local detour available using SR 971 over Navarre Coulee and the South Shore of Lake Chelan, but it is not recommended for large vehicles.
