I-5 - Olympia Area Southbound - Congestion Management

Description: Crews will install ramp meters for southbound I-5 between Martin Way and Henderson Boulevard. WSDOT will activate the ramp meters during late winter.

Work Schedule: No work that will affect drivers. Project will resume during September following acquisition of materials.

I-5 - SR 510 Interchange - Reconstruct Interchange

Description: Crews are converting the existing overpass into a diverging diamond interchange. All users of this interchange are strongly encouraged to sign up to receive WSDOT email updates.

Reduced lanes on Marvin Road overpass
Southbound travelers can expect potential delays as Marvin Road has reduced approaching the overpass. The reduced lanes will continue until mid-November and return early in the New Year. 

Single-lane closure for northbound I-5 exit to Marvin Road. One lane will remain open.

Quinault Drive NE at Marvin Road 
Crews have opened the new right turn lane at the intersection of westbound Quinault Drive Northeast at Marvin Road/SR 510. 

Tentative weekend-long closure of Marvin Road overpass scheduled
10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27 to 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 30

  • The Marvin Road (SR 510) overpass will close to all travelers. The northbound exit to Marvin Road and the Marvin Road on-ramp to northbound I-5 will also close. The northbound I-5 exit to Quinault Drive will remain open.
  • People traveling through the area should plan for lengthy delays as drivers detour around the overpass weekend closure. Drivers are encouraged to adjust their weekend trips by traveling earlier or later in the day to avoid peak-periods, carpool or take transit.
  • The work is part of continuing efforts to convert the existing overpass into a diverging diamond interchange.
  • Note: This work could be rescheduled. 

93rd Avenue/SR 121 on-ramp to northbound I-5 improvements​

Description: Crews will make improvements to the 93rd Avenue/SR 121 on-ramp to northbound I-5, including adding a new traffic signal at the intersection. The northbound on-ramp will be reconfigured to add an additional lane.   
Work Schedule: Around-the-clock shoulder closures. 

SR 8, US 12 to W of Wilson Rd – Paving
Highway: US 101 Region: Olympic County: Thurston Location: Milepost(s) .01 to 17.2

Description: Single lane closures in both directions. Crews will install new guide posts after workers repaved areas of SR 8 between Elma and Summit Lake in Thurston County. 
Work Schedule:  6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 16-19.

Description: Single- and double-lane closures on both directions for installation of pavement markings. 
Work Schedule: 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, until 5 a.m. each following day through Thursday, Sept. 26.

Description: Slow moving vehicle using both directions of highway to conduct vegetation management.
