Northwest Region/North and South Strategic Pavement Preservation

Project overview

Crews working for WSDOT will perform crack sealing and asphalt patching on numerous routes in King, Snohomish, Skagit, Whatcom and Island counties. The work also includes concrete panel replacement on seven miles of Interstate 5 from just north of the Ship Canal Bridge to just south of Northeast 175th in Shoreline. The sealing, patching and panel replacement preservation work will maintain the structural integrity of these sections of roadway for years.

What to expect

When construction begins in early 2025, highway users can expect nighttime lane and ramp closures in most locations. For the I-5 panel replacement work, weekend lane closures will be needed. Dates for closures have not been determined.
